About China On-Call

Short answer: China On-Call is an independent, China-based phone assistance service for foreign travellers who are already stuck — a hotel that can't find your booking, a refund that won't move, a lost passport, a hospital that needs a phone call. One real person in China (GMT+8) makes that call in Mandarin and reports back to you in English on WeChat. Not a chatbot, not a translation app, not a government service.

I'm not a booking platform, a tour operator or a chatbot. I'm one person in China with a phone, a Mandarin accent that gets taken seriously, and enough patience to sit through a Chinese customer-service queue for you.

Questions people ask before paying

Is China On-Call a government service or an emergency service?

No. I'm one private person in China. I'm not a government body, not an emergency service, and not affiliated with any government office. For an emergency, call police 110, ambulance 120 or fire 119 — free from any phone in China.

Is this an AI chatbot or a real person?

A real person. I make the call in Mandarin and write back to you in English on WeChat. No bot stands between you and the phone line.

Can you call a hotel, 12306, DiDi or a bank for me?

Yes — hotels, 12306 train bookings, DiDi and taxi disputes, banks, Alipay and WeChat Pay support, mobile carriers, couriers, hospitals for non-emergency questions, and government offices for the non-emergency parts. Everything in Mandarin, reported back in English.

Do you pay my bills or book and pay for travel?

No. You pay for the service, not for your hotel, flight, ticket or hospital bill. I don't forward money and I don't pay anything on your behalf.

How is this different from a translation app or a cheap call-assistant service?

A translation app translates a call you're still making yourself — and the app makers themselves warn that translation can fail on accents, background noise, names and numbers, which is exactly what matters on a hotel booking or a refund. A cheap script-reading service passes your message on. I make the call: I stay on the line until someone with authority answers, I take down who I spoke to and any case number, and I tell you what was actually agreed — including what was refused.
